“Service was excellent. Nice cozy space. The food was great. The wine recommendation worked perfectly. We showed up with no reservation and were told how long we had for dinner before the table would be needed for a reservation. And yet, when it came time to order dessert they offered for us to stay later to enjoy it. The two course prix fixe dinner had options for everyone.”

“I really enjoyed the scrambled egg and chorizo dish, followed by the chocolate brownie (perfectly sized, intense flavour, with bites of chocolate inside) and delicious decaf coffee last Friday. A real and rare treat for a fastidious pregnant lady. It was the nicest decaf coffee I've ever hard. Yes you could tell it didn't have the caffeine, but the flavours weren't compromised at all. Thank you for having such a high standard.”

Nice big thick 8oz at opposed to two 4oz patties. 2 big beefy onion rings and chipotle mayo, seasoned chips, coleslaw, and relish on the side thankfully not in the burger. Just reaaaly wonderful. And a great atmosphere outside on a nice day watching the rugby. So glad I strolled in randomly.”

“The Old Head Restaurant is an amazing place to go for a meal. It doesn’t only have grate food and friendly staff but it also has absolutely stunning views of the lighthouse and the Irish Sea that overlooks the golf course from the restaurant patio on any day. We came here for dinner one evening after chatting with a friendly local while out on a walk who suggested it to us. It was one of our favourite meals and experiences on our Ireland trip and the memory still comes up every once in a while in our conversations. We all said we would come back here again if we are back in Ireland.”

“I was so excited to visit Bastion on a trip to Kinsale 2 weeks ago and I was not disappointed! Let me just say the waiters and chefs are amazing! So friendly and informative, really, they make the place! The menu was an 8 course tasting and we got the wine pairing as well. The addition of the wine pairing definitely adds a lot to the bill but if you were to order the same amount of drinks it wouldn't be cheaper! The food was immaculately presented, so creative and minimal. From amuse buche to petits fours, we thoroughly enjoyed every plate, the use of flavours and the respect towards the fab ingredients is really evident in each course! My fav was the dessert of course, white choc mousse and passion fruit. Divine. Go here.”

We had the tuna spring rolls from the specials and we loved it, the monkfish with beurre blanc and oyster mushrooms was to die. Also fantastic non-alcoholic cocktails accompanied with a faultless service. This place is an absolute gem!”

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Finns Farmcut and am happy to report that the experience was excellent. The chef was incredibly friendly and the food was outstanding. The steak was the best I have ever had and the sticky ribs were great. The wine selection was amazing and the staff were so happy and helpful. The ambiance was beautiful as well. “Back inside!!!! Woo hoo!!! Great local fresh food (crab straight off the local fishing boats) and proper coffee. Nutella - stress the Nutella - hot chocolate and cakes great for a burst of energy when cycling with kids. Addition of a bike tools/ air pump right there is a massive plus too!!”

“Great little spot to stop into on a nice day’s walk to or from Kinsale. We happened upon this bar on our way back from a walk to Charles Fort along Kinsale harbour. It’s a very atmospheric location and has some very delicious food. Make sure to come on a sunny day to sit outside and watch the world go by!”

“A grand pub, with a good range of beers, including Smithwicks and for a fiver a pint. It also has proper respect for sport, with a big screen and the commentary turned up, not intrusively but adequately. Nice crowd around the pool table too.”

All dishes were described in detail along with beautifully made cocktails that were presented at our table. I would highly recommend an evening at rare.
