George C Lyon Nature Preserve
The George C Lyon Nature Preserve is a park located at 78 Meadow Woods Road in Deep River, Connecticut, United States. This nonprofit conservation organization aims to protect and preserve open-space land in Deep River for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. Since its establishment in 1975, the Land Trust has preserved over 230 acres through land donations and conservation easements. The Trust owns and maintains 15 properties, continuously seeking additional land preservation opportunities. Funded by donations and managed by volunteers, the Deep River Land Trust properties are open from sunrise to sunset for the public to enjoy. Visitors are encouraged to follow a few simple rules, such as staying on blazed trails, keeping pets on leashes, and respecting the natural habitats. Activities like hunting, camping, biking, making fires, smoking, using motorized vehicles, and removing plants are prohibited. Dogs are welcome but must be controlled by their owners and waste must be cleaned up.
George Carini Preserve
