"I have used Custom Color in the past for repair & have always had great experiences! Recently I brought my Jeep in to have the front bumper replaced. Adalea quickly snapped photos & started the process w/ my insurance company. It took a little bit longer than expected, but that was no surprise as they are usually busy… and they are busy because of the great work they do! When I picked up my Jeep, the body worked looked awesome & I felt like it was a new car. They even gave it a wash & the interior was cleaned as well! My vehicle did come back with a large crack in the windshield due to a chip I had, that cracked under the extreme weather. Callie put in so much time & effort dealing with my insurance company, attempting to get them to cover the windshield. Even after I got frustrated with the whole situation… who is responsible, why is this taking so long, yadda yadda….Callie called & patiently & professionally explained the process & the delay. I appreciated the communication so much, as I know Callie & her team juggle a lot given how busy they are. All in all, I am very pleased with the outcome of my vehicle & the service. Even with the windshield debacle, it’s nice to know that there are still businesses that genuinely care about their customers & work hard to make things right. I would highly recommend Custom Color to anyone who needs body work/repair done to their car."

With in a couple days they called to set up an appointment for the repair. Not only did they get the door fixed in a week and a half, they gave it a bath. "I just picked up my vehicle after a bumper repair, and it was by far, one of the WORST experiences I've had with any body shop. Firstly, be prepared to add 2-3 extra weeks to the estimated repair time. And they will never call you with updates, I had to constantly call to check on the progress and new finish date. Secondly, I had a small nick in my windshield for over 8 months. When I arrived to finally pick up my car, that little nick had grown to a 1.5-foot-long crack. I received no apology or explanation, but simply handed my keys and shooed on my way. When I pressed the guy who handed me my paperwork, he said the heat process after painting the new bumper (which apparently can go up to 150 degrees) often results in this happening. He said "Yeah, it happens all the time. Especially with cars in this area" (referencing the poor road conditions in winter here, resulting in many windshield cracks). It was heavily implied it was my fault for not understanding this process and risks associated before the repair took place. Later, after stewing on this for a couple hours, I called back and spoke to a different girl. Who said actually, my car HADN'T gone through that heat process, but simply got the crack from sitting outside in cold. This change of story was strange, but handily lifted any and all responsibility from the shop's shoulders. (Also to note, my car has been sitting outside in -20 degree weather for MONTHS before this.) She also said "they didn't have time to explain this risk to every customer" WHAT?! It takes less than 10 seconds during the first inspection (6 weeks before I actually could bring it in for repair) to say "hey, you should get that patched before the repair." This whole new explanation was shady, esp when she continued with "I reviewed the cameras so we can confirm that nick was already there when you brought it in".........when I never tried to imply it wasn't. It's always disappointing when auto companies/shops treat customers this way, esp those going through insurance. They don't care as long as they get the insurance money. But I would recommend avoiding if possible; there are other body shops in Steamboat that I'm sure wouldn't act this way."
