“Just had a wonderful afternoon in the Welsh House, the food was of a very good standard, plenty of choice and well priced. The atmosphere was a cross between restaurant and bar, very relaxing and welcoming. We were attended to by the lovely Isabell who made us feel welcome. “Incredible food and fantastic staff. Mixed grill and crispy beef filet starter was out of this world! The amount of food was absolutely unbelievable. I'm very rarely unable to finish my food but the mixed grill defeated me! Luckily I was able to take leftovers home and had a chicken & steak sandwich the day after. At just over £30 per head for a soft drink, starters and main I think its fantastic value for money especially given the quality of food.”

“Luxury first class hotel. We stayed in the Flatholm Suite with the copper bath, it was superb and so spotless. The bed was heaven and the towels were so soft. We dined in the restaurant for lunch and the food was to die for, lovely breakfast too. The staff are all really friendly too. The whole experience was faultless and we would definitely return and recommend to anyone.”

“Canton Chop Suey House, more like "was this food made in downtown Shanghai Chop Suey House". The food is succulent. The salt and pepper box did things do me that I haven't experienced since my 2008 Amsterdam trip! Prices are good, delivery is quick and customer service is always on point. Most importantly, there is a dreamy 5ft8 delivery driver. I've heard he goes by the name Teddie Erott, but I could be wrong! He has the most gorgeous green eyes, and gives top tier customer service to the people of Cardiff. If you are lucky to be served by this Godly young man, then make sure you give him a well deserved tip!”

“During business trip in Newport, our members wanted to have Korean food. And finally we’ve found this restaurant. It was GREAT time to have wonderful Korean dishes in UK. I had Korean-style pork vally, and several soup. Pork vally is worth to get 5 starts. For Korean-soup, maybe real Koreans think it is too sweet. But it is good try for UK people who is not familiar with spicy food. Thanks again for good dinner, If I visit Cadiff and Newport area again, will visit here again for sure. I already miss Romeo and Juliet.”

“Came here for an anniversary dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. It was a very quiet evening , literally us and one other table so service was very fast and attentive. Both myself and my partner ordered a flat iron steak, medium-rare which was very flavoursome, slightly chewy in places but that didn't take away from the enjoyment of the steaks. Sides were hand cut chips, hassleback potatoes and the beef brisket mac and cheese, both the chips and potatoes were tasty, some of them quite crispy but if anything we enjoyed them more for that fact. The mac and cheese was very tasty, probably one of the nicest mac and cheeses we've had to date. Overall, very good food, lovely atmosphere, very welcoming, friendly staff and interesting decor! I didn't catch our servers name but thank you for taking the time to chat with us and recommend bar's in the area, this was very appreciated as being visitors that were unfamiliar with the area.”

“Went there at like 11:57. I knew damn well I was pushing it, and had fully accepted them to say "Sorry we are closed.". They had customers in, so I wasnt served till about 12:02 (after closing time), and their enthusiasm and commitment to the job was insane. Without knowing their closing time, you would not be able to tell they were closed. Another customer came in after me at about 12:03, and ordered a pizza. And the workers actually made it! Food was mediocre, the price wasnt anything special, but the amazing service forces me to give this place no less than a 5/5.”

“Gem 42 in Newport is AMAZING! The food is out of this world. You must go if you are in the area. If you are not in the area then you must make the effort to get here. The restaurant is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The food is cleverly and creatively presented on a range of different plates, bowls and porcelain dishes - very entertaining. The staff are excellent and the chef explained every morsel in detail. The whole evening was an incredible and delicious theatrical event. Highly recommend!”
