Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park is a museum and park located at 9980 Greenback Lane in Folsom, California, United States. This institution is a colorful part of Sacramento history, showcasing the commercial application of electricity in the late 19th century. Visitors can explore the vintage generators, control switchboard, and massive General Electric transformers that once powered the city of Sacramento. The park offers a glimpse into the past with its forebays and canal system that brought water from the dam to generate electricity. Summer and spring are warm, while fall and winter can be cool, so layered clothing is recommended. Special Event Permit applications should be submitted 45 days in advance, and Film Permits can be arranged through the California Film Commission. Volunteers are welcome to become docents and share the history of the Folsom Powerhouse with visitors.
