"I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Valenzuela when I was 14 years old. At that time, I was determined to have a study abroad experience while all my friends were planning their Fifteens Ball, dresses, and dances. Dr. Valenzuela was the Associate Director of Admissions at a renowned boarding school in California. After sending my resumé, test scores, etc., I was invited for a virtual meeting that would last around 20 minutes. As a kid dreaming of studying in an expensive boarding school in California, I felt like a jellyfish who had to talk to Poseidon. The interview took a little more than one hour, my mother joined us, and in the end, Poseidon was making us feel like dreams can become true. Dr. Valenzuela is fueled by a passion for supporting and guiding young people to pursue their dreams. That is the reason I say I was lucky to meet him. Dr. Valenzuela was a turning point in my life! Now that I am completing my senior year and the IB Diploma, being accepted to 8 American Universities, it is clear how the empowerment he offered was crucial to shaping the confident young person I am today. As a newcomer, I received outstanding guidance and effort to support my transition from Brazil to a boarding school in California with students from all over the world. Dr. Valenzuela helped me complete all my application forms without any complications and guided me through applying for a scholarship. Due to his resourcefulness, I managed to be granted a scholarship and make my dreams a reality. Not only did he assist me, but he ensured that I followed all deadlines and encouraged me throughout all of it. Being interviewed, admitted, and guided by Dr. Valenzuela led me towards the right path and motivated me to be hardworking, diligent, and optimistic.
