Restoring Our Communities (ROC) is a unique academic support program located at Laney College in Oakland, California. Specifically designed for formerly incarcerated students, ROC aims to provide the tools and resources necessary for success both at Laney College and beyond. The program seeks to eliminate the stigma associated with being formerly incarcerated and address the effects of mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline. The tour includes visits to HBCU campuses, as well as cultural and historical sites related to African American heritage.
