"Another poorly managed building owned by Greystar. "Hayes Valley" sounds much better than "building next to permanent encampment." Be prepared for strangers sneaking in, stealing packages, and generally making it unpleasant to leave the building. Stacker garage means your car will be annoying to access in addition to the $350 monthly fee for parking. Lived here for over 2 years with 6 (read: SIX) resident managers, 3 maintenance supervisors (current one unhinged and dangerous and gossips), and too many issues to count. So glad to be out of there! Avoid at all costs!!"
"Further edit/update: There was a period recently where weed smell would waft through the vents and enter my unit causing my entire unit to smell like weed. I had to file maintenance requests repeatedly and speak to management in person for them to send out a single email to residents reminding them to smoke off-premise. Someone also broke into the package room recently and stole a bunch of packages. Now we can only get packages through the help of patrol/security during after-hours. And guess what? Security is so unreliable that they sometimes don't show up or show up very late to their shifts, which means no one is around to help residents get packages or maintain the safety of the building. I've gone down to the lobby multiple times during after-hours to find no one in the lobby. I knew they weren't on patrol bc I'd check throughout the night. It's completely unacceptable, and I'm extremely frustrated. Edit/update: Changing the star rating from 2 to 1, which should have been my rating from the beginning but I was hopeful management could rectify things. The hot water issue is still plaguing the building intermittently, and I recently found out that the elevator broke down while a resident was inside. He had no cell service and waited over an hour to be rescued. This is a new building - how could there be so many issues, some of which are lethal? I still haven't received any updates or compensation for the issues I've experienced living at the Rise, and neither have other residents as far as I can tell. Echoing what others have shared, I experienced the hot water issue for over a month, and considering I moved to the Rise in August of this year, the issue affected half of my time living here. After I emailed about offering concessions in light of the issue, I still haven't received a response despite following up twice. When I've put in maintenance requests for other issues, the issues would somehow get marked as resolved/closed despite there being no fixes. I wanted to like living here but all the reasons above have made it very difficult."
"The management gives better rates to people who are not already residents of the apartment to get them to sign a lease. Instead of rewarding your loyalty for being a resident, they give you a worse rate than they give new residents. There were also hot water issues that lasted for several months and several packages that were stolen."
"The apartment itself is decent but the management here is pretty incompetent. My electric bike got stolen from the hallway right outside my apartment door. I thought it was safe to charge it there, considering that you need 3 fob accesses to get there. Luckily I got it back, because the bike company(Vanmoof) is awesome at tracking their bikes(and sending Batman to retrieve it). I asked them to look at the camera footage to see how a low life got access to my floor so easily and their response was underwhelming. Other than that, broken elevators, hot water outages and late maintenance services"
"I have lived here since October 2020 and have loved every month thus far. The loading bay and freight elevator made moving in a breeze. The views from the roof are sunrise/sunset worthy and the Dog run makes it so easy to avoid walks along Market Street late night. The units are very well appointed and the finishes are modern industrial. Rick has done a great job keeping us informed, along with his team that strives to welcome you home daily. COVID hasn’t been easy for any of us but I Love coming home and working from home at The Rise!"
