Preservation efforts in St. Helena, California

Our Town St. Helena is a local nonprofit organization located at 1250 Church Street in St. Helena, California. We are dedicated to addressing the lack of affordable housing in our rural community to preserve its vitality and character. Our mission is to provide housing opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds, including unskilled, skilled, and professional workforces, families, and senior citizens. We work to create innovative strategies to offer rental, home ownership, and nontraditional housing options while prioritizing resource conservation. Our recent project, Brenkle Court, successfully provided eight new homes for first-time homeowners and their families.

Moore Creek Park, located at 2602 Chiles Pope Valley Road in St. Helena, California, is a beautiful park offering 1,600 acres of rugged terrain for outdoor enthusiasts to explore. This park features Oak woodlands, Douglas Fir & Madrone forest, grasslands, and chaparral, making it a diverse and scenic destination for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. Visitors to Moore Creek Park can enjoy the newly opened Moore Creek Trail Redux, which offers a challenging and scenic route for hikers and bikers. The park also features the Hennessey Unit, which provides stunning views of Lake Hennessy and its surrounding watershed.

Robert Louis Stevenson State Park, located at 4824 Lake County Highway in Calistoga, California, is a beautiful park and tourist attraction known for its diverse ecosystem. Although online reservations are not available for this park, visitors can enjoy the wide array of flora and fauna that can be found here. This park is where the famous author Robert Louis Stevenson spent his honeymoon in 1880, and there is a trail to the summit where his cabin once stood. The terrain in the park is rough, with evergreen forests in the canyons on north-facing slopes and chaparral on the south-facing slopes. Visitors can enjoy a five-mile hike to the top of Mt. St. Helena, where stunning views of the San Francisco Bay Area can be seen, and on clear days, even Mt. Shasta 192 miles away.
