The center does not perform gender-affirming surgeries, but refers older adolescents and young adults to appropriate providers. The center has locations in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Ramon. The center is part of the UCSF Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, offering advanced medical care including puberty blockers and gender-affirming hormones. The center also provides a variety of amenities and services to support families and patients during their hospital stay, including interpreter services, child life specialists, family-friendly amenities, and educational programs. Additionally, the center offers art therapy, music therapy, and schoolroom services to help children cope with illness and continue their education while hospitalized. Chaplains are available to provide spiritual and emotional support, and patient relations reps are on hand to address any concerns. The UCSF Child & Adolescent Gender Center is dedicated to promoting gender health and positive outcomes for children and adolescents exploring gender identity and expression.
