Cachagua Community Park
Cachagua Community Park is a picturesque 14-acre park located in the Cachagua area of Carmel Valley, California. Overlooking the scenic Cachagua Creek, this park is a popular spot for picnics, horseshoe games, and horseback riding. Visitors can also discover artifacts from the Native American Esselen people within the park grounds. The name "Cachagua" has a long history, dating back to the 1850s with the spelling "Jassagua", which likely has influences from the Esselen or Spanish languages. The Esselen people once inhabited the area known as "Xasáuan" with several villages around 1750. The present-day Cachagua community was established in the 1880s and maintains its remote and independent spirit.
