John Hinkel Park
John Hinkel Park, located in Berkeley, California, is a beautiful hillside oak grove that offers a range of recreational opportunities and serves as a popular tourist attraction. The park features an amphitheater for outdoor performances and events. The park was dedicated for park purposes in 1918, after being donated to the City of Berkeley by John Hinkel, a local capitalist and philanthropist. The park's history includes the John Hinkel Clubhouse, a pre-1920's wood frame building with significant architectural merit. Unfortunately, the clubhouse was demolished in 2015 after a fire critically damaged the building.
