SCHARP was established in 1994 as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing mental health and rehabilitation services to vulnerable ethnic minority populations in Southern California. The founders, two African American psychiatrists, were inspired to create services that cater to the specific needs of these communities, as well as the homeless mentally ill and dually diagnosed individuals. At SCHARP Step Out Apartments, we offer a variety of programs and services aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of our clients. Our School-Based Program provides comprehensive mental health services to children and youth, while our services for adults focus on reducing mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues that may hinder their ability to work.
