SCHARP Step Out Apartments is a part of the Southern California Health & Rehabilitation Program (SCHARP), located at 2010 East El Segundo Boulevard in Compton, California. SCHARP was established in 1994 as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing mental health and rehabilitation services to vulnerable ethnic minority populations in Southern California. The founders, two African American psychiatrists, were inspired to create services that cater to the specific needs of these communities, as well as the homeless mentally ill and dually diagnosed individuals.

At SCHARP Step Out Apartments, we offer a variety of programs and services aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of our clients. Our School-Based Program provides comprehensive mental health services to children and youth, while our services for adults focus on reducing mental health, substance abuse, and domestic violence issues that may hinder their ability to work.

Our integrated primary care and behavioral healthcare services target adults with serious mental illness, providing them with the support they need to thrive. We also offer supportive mental health services for young adults who may be underserved or unwilling to access traditional mental health services.

Through community reintegration programs and partnerships with organizations like the Department of Mental Health, SCHARP Step Out Apartments is committed to creating lasting social safety nets for vulnerable populations. Our Full Service Partnership program offers intensive mental health services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness, while our Outreach Triage Team serves Transitional Age Youth and Adults in South L.A.
