The Culver

"My partner and I have lived at the Culver for four years. We can't say anything but positive things about our experience there. The building is well-maintained, and whenever issues arise, Portia and the team are quick to help us fix it! The location is excellent because you can walk to downtown Culver in under 10 minutes. Trader Joe's, Vons, and Whole Foods are in the area. The gym is kept well-maintained and clean at all times."

"I’ve lived here for just under a year and my experience with the building and management has been pleasant and enjoyable. The building feels new and well-kept, with beautiful high ceilings, updated appliances, and great amenities (gym and rooftop deck). It is surprisingly quiet and soundproof for being located so close to the 10 and is within walking distance to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, gyms and more. Rent is affordable, maintenance is efficient, and other tenants are friendly. Would definitely recommend living here!"

"Great building in a prime location. I love the light in the building and the general layout. The area is amazing, just minutes from down town Culver, with tons to do (that you can walk to!) Portia, the property manager, is easy to get a hold of and super helpful. All issues have been fixed really quickly and efficiently."

"UPDATE: My original review for the Culver was a 3, and I think that was fair for it at the time, the manager was difficult to get a hold of and it seemed like we were an after thought property. The new manager, Portia, very easy to get a hold of, she’s constantly looking for ways to improve the Culver. We got fobs while she was working here, the floors in the hallway were painted, we got electric car chargers, we got yoga on every other Saturday, she partnered with a great internet company and we got a great deal on internet while we lived there. Right before I left they added package lockers. I will say that it is still a little frustrating that some work orders didn’t get done before we moved out because they had to buy special parts or get a special vendor, but over all I would say that I was kind of bummed to leave The Culver, but it wasn’t close enough to work and living with my partner was cheaper."

"Update: For the record- this issue was never resolved. We had to move. If the building manager or rental company says it was, they're lying. Look elsewhere. I moved into The Culver 5 years ago, and have experienced the following situations: -dryer caught fire because it was too old (2016) -Flies all over the balcony (front-facing apartment) (2016-now) -Bikes stolen (2016) -Multiple cars were broken into; these were in the gated garage- which is easy to access from the back of the building (2016) -Broken washing machine resulted in mold growing in the washing machine- landlord did not respond to this for three months (2017) -Screaming neighbors (at me and others) (2016-now) -Toilet leaked water twice (2019) -Shower leak- we fixed ourselves (2019) Broken oven- (2020) -Broken gym equipment (2016-2020) In the past 6 months: -Continued secondhand smoke issues; there is no use keeping the doors or windows closed, the smell comes up from the cheap flooring -The building itself is easy to break into from the back of the building (see picture) -Litter everywhere -Cigarette butts everywhere -Electrical closet and high voltage room open and unsupervised -Dead bugs all around the building -Cheap carpet and random boarding laying around that pose as a tripping hazard Management takes anywhere from 3 months to never to rectify the situation. If any/all of this doesn't bother you then consider that other apartment buildings around the area offer more for a lower price."
