The last night to camp in Huckleberry and Dawn Redwood is the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Madrone Campground is open between 9/2 to 5/24 (off season) as walk-in only with self-registration available at the park entrance (cash/check only). Closures can be predicted in hazardous weather conditions with wind speeds over 55mph. Dogs are not allowed on trails except for service animals.

The campground at Sweetwater offers several campsites with RV pads, fire rings, shade structures, picnic benches, vault toilets, and interpretive panels. There is no reservation or fee required, but there is a 14-day camping limit within any 28-day period. Dispersed camping is also available, with certain restrictions to protect wildlife and vegetation.
