Designed by renowned African-American architect Vincent Proby, the A C Bilbrew Library is a spacious 21,000-square-foot facility that can house up to 100,000 books. It is home to the Black Resource Center, which offers valuable resources and support for research into the social, historical, musical, and cultural aspects of the Black experience. The library also hosts the esteemed "African-American Living Legend" Series, celebrating notable figures such as Rosa Parks and Ray Charles.
The Friends of A C Bilbrew Library, a dedicated volunteer-run organization, plays a crucial role in supporting the library and its events. The library offers a range of services, including access to eBooks, audiobooks, and digital media with your LA County Library card. "There are always people sitting near the adult computer section and chatting with each other constantly or talking on phones excessively. Everyday. Like this is where they come to socialize not study/research. Never had a break with these chatters. The children computer section which is near the entrance n usually empty is not infested with these type of people. Wish they can just move there but loud ppl like quietness too ironically"
