Originally commissioned by Samuel and Harriet Freeman, who were inspired by Wright's work at the Hollyhock House, this home is a masterpiece of Wright's textile block construction system. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Freeman House is currently undergoing restoration to preserve its unique design and cultural significance. The house, built on a steep Hollywood Hills site, appears as a single level from the street but actually extends two additional levels down the slope.
