Sovereign Nation of Elk Valley Rancheria
The Sovereign Nation of Elk Valley Rancheria is a casino located at 2332 Howland Hill Road, Crescent City, California, United States. The institution is deeply rooted in the history and culture of the Pacific Northwest, specifically in Tolowa ancestral territory near Yurok lands. The tribal membership includes people of Tolowa, Wiyot, Yurok, and Hupa descent. Founded after the Landless California Indians Act of 1906, Elk Valley Rancheria was one of many Rancherias illegally terminated from federal recognition in the 1950s. Thanks to the efforts of Tillie Hardwick and others, federal recognition was restored in the 1980s, leading to the reorganization of the Tribe in 1994. The Tribe is dedicated to preserving its culture and restoring its lands. Nestled in the redwoods along the Northern California coast, Elk Valley Casino offers a memorable gaming experience for visitors. Whether you are vacationing or passing through, Elk Valley Casino welcomes you to experience the spirit and culture of the Tribe. Tribal Chairman Dale Miller invites you to learn about the history of the Elk Valley Rancheria and the various tribes that make up the community.
