Westside School of Ballet
Westside School of Ballet, located in Santa Monica, California, is the oldest and most successful public ballet school in Los Angeles. Founded in 1967 by Yvonne Mounsey of New York City Ballet and Rosemary Valaire of Royal Ballet, the institution is dedicated to excellence in training and the development of students as artists. With a team of experienced teachers who have performed with professional companies worldwide, students receive exceptional training that has led to scholarships with major ballet company schools and summer programs for nearly 50 years. The school's performing division, Westside Ballet, is Southern California's premier pre-professional training company, with approximately 100 dancers aged 8 to 18. Students at all levels, from Creative Movement to Level 7, have the opportunity to showcase their skills in the Year End Demonstration. Many alumni have gone on to dance with renowned professional companies such as New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and San Francisco Ballet.
