About the Durón Gallery at SPARC
Welcome to Durón Gallery at SPARC, a vibrant hub of artistic expression and social activism located at 685 North Venice Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. As a proud part of the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC), our gallery is dedicated to promoting art that inspires political action and social justice. We invite you to join us in supporting another 40 years of impactful arts activism by contributing to SPARC today. Your donations, no matter the size, help us remain responsive to community needs and continue our mission.
We are thrilled to announce the launch of MuralMemoirs, an exciting new initiative designed to capture and share the stories and memories connected to murals in our communities. In this initial phase, we encourage you to share your personal experiences related to iconic pieces like the Great Wall or the World Wall. Your narratives are vital to us, and we want to hear them!
In recognition of her remarkable achievements, SPARC's Artistic Director, Judy Baca, was recently honored at the LACMA Art Film Gala. Her lifetime work showcases her dedication to making art accessible to all and redefining artistic boundaries. We celebrate Judy’s visionary contributions and are grateful to have her lead our artistic endeavors.
Our gallery is also a proud recipient of a three-year grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, supporting the preservation and expansion of The Great Wall of Los Angeles Monument. This initiative is part of the Foundation’s Monuments Project, which aims to reimagine commemorative spaces to reflect America’s diverse history.
At Durón Gallery, we are committed to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities through art. Our video series highlights the diverse and captivating murals of Los Angeles, focusing on themes of social justice and systemic change. We honor the artistic legacies of revolutionary black muralists in Los Angeles, whose work over the past 30 years has championed justice, dignity, and transformation.
As a nonprofit organization, SPARC is exempt from federal income tax and eligible to receive tax-deductible donations. We are part of the Latinx Arts Alliance and supported by the LA County Department of Arts and Culture through initiatives like Creative Recovery LA.
Visit us at Durón Gallery at SPARC to explore the power of art in fostering social change, and consider becoming a monthly donor to help us continue this essential work. Together, let's make a difference through the transformative power of art.
