Ye Olde Plank Inn
Ye Olde Plank Inn, located at 24 Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach, California, is a historic bar that has been around since 1886. Situated near the beach, the building has a rich history as it was once used as horse stables and a loading area for supplies to build the Hotel Del Coronado. The building has housed various businesses over the years, including a surfboard showroom in the 1950s. In February 1964, Ye Olde Plank became a beer and wine bar, and in February 1969, it was purchased by Alan Winkelman and his wife Betty Mae. Today, the bar is owned by Martin R. Mattes and Tony Cornett, both with military backgrounds. Operating from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM daily, Ye Olde Plank is the oldest bar in Imperial Beach and is open every day of the year, including holidays.
