About the Ye Olde Plank Inn
Ye Olde Plank Inn, located at 24 Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach, California, is a historic bar that has been around since 1886. Situated near the beach, the building has a rich history as it was once used as horse stables and a loading area for supplies to build the Hotel Del Coronado. The building has housed various businesses over the years, including a surfboard showroom in the 1950s.
In February 1964, Ye Olde Plank became a beer and wine bar, and in February 1969, it was purchased by Alan Winkelman and his wife Betty Mae. Today, the bar is owned by Martin R. Mattes and Tony Cornett, both with military backgrounds. Operating from 6:00 AM to 2:00 AM daily, Ye Olde Plank is the oldest bar in Imperial Beach and is open every day of the year, including holidays.
Guests can enjoy daily drink specials, a welcoming atmosphere, a world-class patio, and delicious food at Ye Olde Plank Inn. Come and experience the charm of this historic establishment in Imperial Beach.

Reviews of Ye Olde Plank Inn
"Great environment to bring a long term friend, or a stranger to just chill and hear great tunes. Go Navy!!!!!"
"I went to the Plank with my walking group (I.B. Walking) which is part of the Imperial Beach Senior Center. We met there before starting our morning walk. I didn't have anything to eat there but have been told their hamburgers are great. Every morning they have great coffee for only .25 cents a cup. The Man who currently owns Ye Olde Plank is a retired Navy Master Chief Petty Officer and I must say runs a clean, shipshape bar/restaurant."
"The drinks were great and the staff were very friendly! Fun atmosphere, we'll definitely be back again!"
"Fun gritty old bar. This is the one bar to party at in Imperial Beach. Can catch the games here , play some pool, and have a tasty snack from Scotty’s Burgers inside. Love the vibe."
"Great. History in this place. More authentic feeling than more famous pubs on maybe Coronado Island. Drinks good. Food good. Plus two quarter pool tables and an outside deck."
