"After reading so many positive reviews, I wonder if I visited on all of the wrong days! It was my first time there and I was sitting the in waiting room, waiting for my husband. I decided to take a chance ask ask if they were able to do a cleaning, since I was there. Luckily, I would be seen. The procedure room did not feel clean and something (like the lubricant used for articulating joint of the arm) was covered in old dirt and I could see it from my vantage point in the chair. At some point I was handed a mirror and it felt sticky. Dr. Sedghi was available. She was very complementary, but her questions were aggressive and made me feel guilty for not having seen a dentist in more than a year. I was then referred to a specialist for a root canal. That Dr told me to return to South Pasadena Dental for the restoration, since the tooth in question has a crown. This was my first experience with a dentist where I DID NOT have everything done at the same place. So the back and forth process was new to me. He told me that my options were to fill the hole or to replace the crown. I went back to SPD with that in mind, only to be presented with an estimate for a replacement without any consultation. I explained that I wanted the fill because it was the most time efficient and the crown wasn't that old. Then It got uncomfortable. I was met with Carlos who introduced himself as the Office Manager. He explained the options to me and then pressured me into getting the crown replaced. He implied that it was a money situation but it was not. I felt like he was the guy at the dealership trying to scare me into buying the extended warranty. Then I asked when the Dr would be arriving, since I was already waiting 20 minutes past my appointment time. He told me that she's coming from the Valley and thus must be experiencing traffic. Then she showed up. No apologies for keeping me waiting. I explained my reasoning after she made her argument for replacing the crown... again, I just wanted it filled because it would be the quickest solution and by that time, I just wanted to be done with SPD. Then I could sense the energy in the room shift, like she was unhappy with my decision. I wanted to leave but felt too embarrassed. In hindsight, I do regret not having advocated better for myself. Then she worked on me, with Carlos the Office Manager assisting. As they worked, they spoke about their personal plans for the weekend and I just wanted to disappear into the chair. She chose to tell me with her fingers and other instruments in my mouth that a post would be placed in the filling and I would see a black dot on my porcelain colored tooth. THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED during the appointment. Had she been more upfront about that detail, I would have opted for the new crown (Again, money was NOT the issue as I felt Carlos was implying.) But at that point, what else could I do? She had already drilled out the temp. I felt that her timing was punitive. After that uncomfortable situation, I discovered that I was greatly overcharged for the procedure when I received my Delta Statement. When I went into the office to get things straightened out, the receptionist became visibly annoyed and literally turned her head and stopped responding to me. The female Asian (I can't remember her name) assured me that the charges would be corrected and in fact they were. I did very much appreciate her efforts as she was kind, polite, respectful and professional. Writing such a candid review weighed heavy on me, but I was asked to do so, per the sign on the desk."

"The dentist ended up cutting the side of my mouth with a drill so bad that I had to get stitches. I now am left with a permanent scar next to my mouth and my lip shape is misaligned. On top of that, the doctor had an attitude towards my father because of his concern of the wound. I had to go to two different doctors afterwards to figure out possible solutions to the scar that was left behind. The good reviews might be a lot and it's what sold me to check this place out but gosh, I regret ever stepping foot into this place."

"Love the front desk receptionists how friendly and professional they are. Helping out with whatever question or concerns i may have. Jessica, janira & tiffany really make me feel comfortable on a nervous dentist visit. And shout out to the dentist for his patient in the care he give to his patients"

"The staff is always pleasant at South Pasadena Dental Group. Dr. McClendon is extremely knowledgeable and attentive. He addressed all of my concerns and always made certain that I left each orthodontist visit with a smile on my face."
