Cafe Indonesia
● ClosedCafe Indonesia, located at 41 East 8th Street in National City, California, is a unique dining experience that brings together Dutch-Indo and Filipino cuisine. As the creators of the original java rice in the Philippines since 1952, Cafe Indonesia offers a cross-cultural menu featuring traditional dishes like nasi goreng and sate, as well as modern creations like chori-burgers and adobo fried chicken. Established by Pete Alfonso in Manila in the 1950s, Cafe Indonesia was a pioneer in introducing Indonesian cuisine to the Philippines and nurturing Filipino Jazz music. Now, Pete's grandson Bobby Alfonso is reviving the legacy of Cafe Indonesia in San Diego, bringing Indo-Dutch flavors adapted for the Filipino community using family recipes passed down through generations.
