Located at 11260 Allentown Road, Spencerville, Ohio, our church stands as a testament to the pioneering spirit of America’s westward expansion. Founded in 1835, during the days of the circuit-riding preacher William Moorman, our church traces its roots to the Hartford Christian Church, established at the Hartford trading post. Though the trading post was eventually abandoned in favor of Spencerville, our church remains a vibrant link to that almost forgotten era.
The Hartford Church building, originally constructed in 1901, is nestled near an apple orchard once planted by the legendary Johnny Appleseed. As you approach, you may hear the resonant chimes of our historic church bell, first rung in 1903, calling you to join our community in worship and fellowship.
