"Can’t wait for the opening day next year and they are ahead of their construction schedule"
"Great work site"
"This well bad spot to put it. This where the homeless population of Knoxville hangs out. The shelter is less that block over. It will make for great revenue for the city. This not great area of town. This near the bad areas of town. Knoxville city planning did not think this through."
"The city could have revamped the old Smokey's stadium with the $80.1 million dollars, that is literally a half-mile North (See Knoxville Municipal Stadium). But instead, the city agreed that Randy Boyd needed more money, and that, "the stadium would pay for itself and be profitable" in about 10-20years. Assuming the team stays in town that long, and people change interest from Football (in the VOLs backyard, college town? Come on K-Town...really?) It was essential to take out the low income housing to put in "luxury lofts that will over look the stadium" because; it would bring in more wealthy folk the the city... Knoxville has a great history of caring for low income, homeless, and ostensibly black residents. From bulldozing homeless camps, to building the interstate system to literally sequester the black community (and break up integrated neighborhoods), this city has a lot going for it. We really needed a minor league baseball stadium with shops and vendors (all of whom will be renting space from Randy Boyd because he owns all the surrounding property.) Certainly don't need to address homelessness. Really don't need to have the low-income residents near the downtown area. It's especially important to push the black community further East. All for America's favorite pastime; putting pressure on the working class...I mean baseball. Go VOLs... Oops, I mean Smokey's."
