"The whole, “if you buy a key book, we’ll press it and ship it to CGC for free” wasn’t true in my case (I have the receipt). I didn’t even know that was a thing until a few months later I heard the owner try to tell a new customer all the reasons to shop there and to create a pull list. They really try to convince you that they will roll the red carpet out for you. The store charges top dollar for their books, sometimes to a rediculous amount. Wanted $200 “and that’s the lowest I can go” for a TMNT #1 reprint that you can occasionally find on eBay in the same or even better condition for $30… Basically charging you if the book was slabbed and graded at a 9.8. The store adds books that you didn’t put on your pull list as “recommendations” (without telling you btw) but charges you full price… that’d be great it many books weren’t $5 a pop these days. I had one added to my pull list that was a $10 book… “well you don’t have to buy them.” Well, I don’t want to have to sort through my pull list each week for the books that I didn’t subscribe to in the first place, Grant… To be fair, if you call them out on it, they will reimburse you, but it’s just another method they use to sell a book or two… or three. I called an asked them to submit a book to CGC for me since I didn’t have time to come in an submit it myself. They submitted a completely different book, and all I got was an “oops, sorry about that” after I was told that they “would make it right.” No offer of reimbursement, no effort whatsoever to amend their mess up. If you’re coming into the store each week and buying books, the owner will be all smiles, but if you don’t or try to do business by phone with them, you are an afterthought and you’re more than likely going to be disappointed."
"Phenomenal shop! Best comic shop in the south that I have ever been to. Tons and tons of key books, graded books, back issues, and new releases. Very fairly priced. The owner was extremely kind and willing to negotiate. All new books come bagged and boarded. Subscribers get 25% off cover price for new monthly books. It was a great experience and definitely would recommend shopping at Nirvana Comics!"
"During our visit, we were from out of town. If you're into comics, this place is a must-visit. The owner and staff, along with their furry member, were incredibly welcoming. We brought our daughter, who was searching for a specific series. They were well-informed, passionate, and accommodating. We're thrilled we didn't miss the chance to stop by after exploring other spots. It's Knoxville's hidden gem for comic enthusiasts! Can't wait to go again when we return!!!"
"I asked my Twitter and Podcast audience where I should go to check out comics while in Knoxville and the only shop recommended by many people was Nirvana Comics. As soon as you walk in, the reasons are obvious. The first thing you see is several walls of variants, slabs and exclusives. There is art on the wall from local and big name artists and you can tell they are proud of what they have and what they do. That pride translates into a knowledgeable staff, a fun experience and an even larger selection of back stock and accessories. My one gripe for Nirvana Comics is that it’s a little hard to find some titles. Their labelling system could use a little work/updating in some of the back stock, but that is fixed just by asking any of the staff for help. They will go out of their way to find what you need. When I come back to Knoxville, I will be back in Nirvana."
"Pretty good comic shop especially if you wanna find some cool rare stuff. Staff is pretty welcoming and willing to help with anything someone may need. The blind comic book bags were very cool and something I wish more comic shops did! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Knoxville area."
