Dr. Ousama Dabbagh, MD

"Dr. Dabbagh has great reviews & it seems others have had good experiences with him, unfortunately that was not the case for me. My first visit I found him to be very uncompassionate and didn't really seem interested hearing my story. My second visit was to go over my sleep study results. He actually seemed very compassionate this time around & told me he'd do everything he could to help me find the cause of my sleep issues. He encouraged moving forward to the MSLT, saying that there's more to narcolepsy such as your brain not controlling your sleep wake cycles. I have never had any symptoms of narcolepsy & was a little skeptical, but thought he's the specialist. My issues are not being able to fall asleep or stay asleep. When I went back for my third visit to go over the MLST I was absolutely shocked at how he treated me. First he had a doctor come in to review the test results who was reviewing my first sleep study & didn't even realize I had a second sleep study done. I requested to please speak to Dr. Dabbagh & the other doctor kindly said he'd go get him. Dr. Dabbagh walks in the room with such attitude saying you don't have narcolepsy & reviewed a few other things, but with such annoyance. He was so unkind, uncompassionate, ruid & showed no interest in helping me further. When I asked about insomnia he said it's too tricky to make an insomnia diagnosis. That it's either depression, anxiety, ptsd, or habits. He also made me feel like I was an addict trying to get a prescription for more clonazepam which was never the case. I never asked for a prescription, just a real diagnosis or help in figuring out what was going on so I would know what treatment would work best. Before I agreed to the MLST I asked if this test would be able to diagnose an insomnia disorder or tell him if my brain is unable to control my sleep wake cycles and he said, YES! If you suffer from insomnia I strongly advise you to go to someone else. He will not help you. I was so distraught & left his office in tears. He even escorted me out the back entrance so know one in the waiting room would see how upset I was. I truly feel he told me what I wanted to hear so I would agree to the MSLT to get my money & insurance money. I think he knew it wasn't narcolepsy & he knew he wasn't going to diagnose me with insomnia, but he sure did want to get paid & that was his motive. I cried for days & am still trying to get over how he made me feel. I was deeply hurt, I trusted him & prayed for him to be able to help me get the answers I needed. I really hope he sees this review so he can learn from this & never make anyone else feel the way he made me feel. I was truly hurt & devastated by how I was treated! I am now off of the clonazepam & focusing on natural sleep support supplements. I have lost faith in doctors, but am on a mission to find someone who is compassionate, understanding & truly has my best interests at heart! Someone who truly wants to help me get to the root of this."

"I saw him in August & then his PA, Susan in September. I was currently taking Xyrem for narcolepsy and we had decided to switch to Lumryz which is the same med just it was extended release. First, She did not know the name of the med which in my opinion is kinda important especially if you are a sleep specialist. Second, they kept trying to run insurance that I didn't even have. As a MA myself, I would have called the patient right away to verify. Also, I would have made sure that the pt. had current medication while waiting on the new start. It has been almost 6 weeks since that appointment & I have been out of my current med for almost 2 weeks and still nothing with the new med. I have called, left multiple messages, spoke with numerous office managers, even spoke with Dr. Dabbagh himself who spoke to me as if I was stupid. I was given 2 different #s for pharmacies because apparently that was the whole problem, I wasn't answering but those pharmacies weren't even correct. The problem is people who work in healthcare who don't care about patients. Little advice from someone who has been doing this for over 10 years, you treat your patients as you would want your family & yourself treated. Hopefully third time is a charm with a new provider I am scheduled to see soon."
