"Friendly, helpful staff. Took care of a ticket we had received in error, quickly and without any issues. Thanks."
"Their main job is to make lives hard for small businesses owners."
"Quite disappointed with the City Hall rules to say the least. As a small business owner, they make our lives quite hard trying to advertise our businesses with signs and what not. Even putting a banner on the building is a complete headache, and I don't think it's a coincidence as one of my good clients who is also a police officer around here confided in me that St Joseph would rather get rid of all businesses, they intentionally make our lives hard as they want to run away businesses and turn this City into a retirement home. The rules are written by old bitter men with their own agendas at play. An individual working in the City hall looked at me square in the face and told me, they will make me jump through hoops for the approval of minimal things for my business as well. I've spoken to other businesses as well and builders and they all DESPISE the City Hall. I personally refused to play into their game and give them my money only for them to make my life hard on purpose. We as people VOTE everyday with our DECISIONS. We need to stop supporting tyranny. It's mind boggling that people out here here claim to OWN a property but every little thing they want to do with the property has to be approved by old bitter males, the same way little children need approval of their parents to do every little thing. "Hey dad, can I use the restroom?" "ummm, let me think about it...you can only be in there for no more than 2:28 minutes." If you need permission to do every little thing with "your" property, then you don't really own it, the City owns it!"
"Bicycling on Lakeshore Dr. south of St Joseph was one of the scariest routes with no added space for bikers. Nearly every costal city when I biked from New Buffalo to Saugetuck has added at least 3 feet of space for bikers and some looking to have a protected barrier between cars and bikes and extending it to 5 feet. North of St. Thomas was easier to bike, but south St. Thomas was absolutely nowhere for bicyclists and very scary. Its not a bike-friendly city."
"Really outstanding people in this community. Owning a business downtown and having to deal with parking is one thing. Then you add these failure of an event we hold downtown, that ruins the downtown experience. People over here at City Hall work with zero compassion for what they do, and the way they treat the people is almost degrading. I'm glad I live in a town that looks respectable because at least that covers over the fact that this city is dying."
