Visitors to Holley Savanna will find a rich tapestry of habitats, from oak woodlands and savanna remnants to wet areas dominated by silver maples and pink oaks. The upland woods are home to white oaks and a remarkable understory of hazelnuts. One of the preserve's most intriguing features is its vernal pools—temporary bodies of water that provide crucial breeding grounds for species like the freshwater fairy shrimp, tiger salamander, and various frog species.

Managed by Niches Land Trust with support from The Nature Conservancy, Holley Savanna is a testament to effective conservation efforts. Ongoing restoration projects, including periodic prescribed burns, ensure the health and vitality of this precious ecosystem.

While there are currently no designated trails, the preserve's gentle terrain invites exploration and discovery. Directions to Holley Savanna are straightforward: from Rensselaer, head west on S.R. 114 to C.R. 200E, then north for 2.4 miles to North State Road. A right turn east for 1.3 miles leads to a designated parking area by the cemetery, with the preserve just beyond.
