Led by Director Mark D. Bird, appointed by the Commissioners and supervised by the State Board of Health, Weights, & Measures Division, our team is committed to upholding the highest standards. Our Weights and Measures Inspector is responsible for testing and inspecting all fuel pumps, vehicles with meter devices related to fuels, tanks, and other outlets within the county. We also ensure the accuracy of weights, measures, and counts of pre-packaged commodities to verify that they meet labeled contents and counts.

We conduct regular inspections against established standards for every scale, timing device, and weighing and measuring device used commercially within Vigo County. Our goal is to protect consumers and businesses by ensuring that all transactions are based on precise and reliable measurements.
