"I remember seeing this boat when it was the Steelton, though unfortunately when I saw it was in 1974 the day after it struck the Port Robinson bridge (the former Bridge 12) along the Welland Canal. The history of the ship is well-documented. She might have made a neat museum somewhere on the Great Lakes, it's a shame she's sitting to rot."

"I sailed on this ship as a deckhand in 1968 when she was known as the Steelton and was a member of the Bethlehem Steel fleet. She was built in 1943, 80 years ago and at the time had a reciprocating coal-fired steam engine. We mainly shipped iron ore from the Upper Lakes to the Bethlehem steel mill in Buffalo, NY. Pay was $2.00 an hour and we worked seven days a week."
