"It’s so frustrating going to a government establishment and seeing women that look like you seem to hate their jobs or have a chip on their shoulder. You walk up greeting and say good morning and the response is beyond disappointing. You ask a question and you’re lied to! I was told that my daughter’s car wasn’t registered in her name and that it was registered in IN! Good thing I know state police that can check plates and I was told otherwise!! I was told incorrect info from three ( unpleasant) women that look like me! I promise I’ll be going up north like I usually do. Let me say that I did receive Amazing assistance from the Hispanic cashier, she also gave me info on how I can figure out who the car is registered to."
"Make sure you have an appointment online and have proof of the appointment. You’ll want to show up 10 minutes early because if they’ve already called your appointment time, the chances of you getting seen is slim. Also for some reason, they don’t accept an enhanced drivers license from a different state even through that verified citizenship or Global Entry card. Make sure you only take the list of the documents they have on the website."
"On May 23rd, 2024, I had an appointment at 4:40p.m. for my daughter at the Secretary of State Department, located 9901 S Martin Luther King Dr, Chicago, IL 60628. We had arrived at 4:30 and proceeded to the front where we check in outdoors. One of the appointment intakers asked me of my appointment time. I stated, "4:40p.m." She asked, "Can I see the confirmation text message?" I showed her from my phone the confirmation ID number. She went inside and later stated that she didn't see an appointment for "A********" and she needed my phone number. I stated out loud my phone number and showed her an confirmation email with everything included to verify my appointment. I stated, " Can you check under my daughter's last name, ******? It is always something when I come to this location." She said, "Well we can't see you, if you don't have appointment with us." I said, "I wouldn't be here if I didn't have an appointment Ma'am." She rolled her eyes and later stated," let me just breathe before I snapped, I dont get paid enough for this." She went inside to get assistant manager. The assistant manager called me over and I showed her all of the proof of my appointment. She said, "we don't see you in the system and can't see you without an appointment." I told her " I did not get up here for nothing, you all will see me because it is no reason not to see. I have an appointment and all of my documents for my daughter and she needs her state ID. Check under my daughter last name "******" because the appointment is for her but I'm not coming back." The assistant manager said, "you can't demand us to see you." I said," I'm not demanding anything I am telling you that I am not leaving because I have an appointment." She walked away and got the manager. The manger came out pointing and yelling at me from the above the platform. She said," You know what, let me come down there to you" the two employees and security guard giggled, as the security followed by her side. She said, What's the problem?!" I explained professionally and respectfully to her what had happened regarding the appointment issue/misunderstanding. She stated, " Well my employees told me that you had a tone with them and demanded that we see you and do not have to see you." I told her that "I never demanded them to see me that never happened." I told her that I did say out loud that "it is always some type of problem when I come to this location." I stated, " I think your employees did not like what I had said and this right here should not even be happening." The manager said, "here's what I can do for you. I can give you a curiosity appointment to come back tomorrow, because things are heated right now or I can I take care of your daughter in myself, do you have all of your documents like birth certificate and social card?" I said, "Yes, I have everything but I need to go in with my 14 year old daughter, especially handling those important documents. There's no reason for me to be denied access inside and this shouldn't even be happening " she said" So you'll come back tomorrow, okay" as she walked away from me with security. I proceeded ten seconds after her to attempt to go in. The security guarded the door. One of the security said," I'm new and don't know all of the procedures but I have to follow what she tell me. I'm sorry. I heard everything and you didn't have a tone but you just have to leave." The dark short security said, "she tried to take care of you but you turned it down." I stated, "she wanted to take my daughter in without me present with her personal information, NO! There is no reason I was supposed to be turned around for my appointment because one of the appointment intakers did not like my sarcastic statement." I said, " But okay " as I dismissed myself from the premises. It's a shame nobody can help with getting my issue with the staffing resolved."
"I am extremely disappointed in the service I received at the DMV at 99th and King Drive in Chicago. During my appointment I was told by a supervisor to go back home and retrieve a w-2 which had my full ss #. When I brought the w-2 back which had the info they asked for they told me the document was too old and sent me to different supervisor. This supervisor who was an older lady made me wait for 20 minutes while she sat doing nothing before she called me only to tell me that she could not accept the document due to it not being from the state of Illinois. When trying to politely explain to her that I was here to get an Illinois ID and have lived and worked in another state for 23 yrs (all my documents incl drivers lic matched the state I was from) and this is what I was told to bring back, she rolled her eyes at me and said it was unacceptable. I asked her why would I have a Illinois w-2 if I lived and worked in another state? Clearly some of the people that work there don’t know what they’re doing, need better education and customer service training."
