Richmond Library
About the Business
Welcome to the Richmond Library, a cherished community hub located at 2987 Almond Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As part of the Free Library system, we proudly serve the Richmond and Port Richmond neighborhoods, offering a wealth of resources and programs for all ages.
Our library has a rich history dating back to 1897, when it began as a "Traveling Library" with just 300 books. Thanks to the generosity of Andrew Carnegie and Anne W. Penfield, the current library building was established in 1910, providing a permanent home for our growing collection. Renovated in 1994, we now offer modern amenities, including Internet access, to meet the needs of our patrons.
Richmond Library is more than just books; it’s a vibrant community center where stories come to life. Join Ms. Meghan for engaging Storytime sessions, perfect for young children and their caregivers, featuring stories, songs, and playtime. We also invite literature enthusiasts to our HORROR BOOK CLUB, held every third Monday of the month for those aged 18 and over, where we delve into spine-chilling tales.
Please note that in observance of Labor Day, our library will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 30, and remain closed through Monday, September 2.
We invite you to explore our rich history, participate in our diverse programs, and become part of our thriving community. For reminders about our events, text @ricbaby to 81010. Visit us and discover all that Richmond Library has to offer!
