About the Business
Welcome to The Free Book Project, a unique library located at 808 Cooper Street, Camden, New Jersey. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to foster positive experiences and connections within Camden and other New Jersey communities by enhancing access to literacy. Founded by our passionate Executive Director, Tom Martin, The Free Book Project began with a humble folding table and a few donated books. Today, thanks to your generous support, we have blossomed into a vibrant, multi-program initiative deeply integrated with our community.
At The Free Book Project, we believe in the transformative power of books. We are dedicated to bringing books to the places they are needed most and giving them away for free. Our programs distribute books across all genres and for all ages, ensuring that everyone—particularly those in marginalized or vulnerable areas—can enjoy the benefits of reading.
There are numerous ways to get involved with our mission. Whether you wish to make a one-time tax-deductible donation, become a recurring patron on our Patreon, or volunteer your time, your contribution makes a significant impact. We welcome book donations and other supplies and can assist with coordinating easy drop-offs or pick-ups.
Join us as a volunteer to help run our Pop-Up Libraries (PULs), manage our Book Arks, or support our team at The Free Books Place. Volunteering is a fulfilling way to become a beacon of literacy in your community, and we provide all the resources you need to succeed.
Your generosity enables us to expand our reach, introducing our programs to more cities, states, and readers. Every donation, regardless of size, helps us spread literacy and create new partnership opportunities. Checks can be mailed to The Free Book Project at P.O. Box 501, Collingswood, NJ 08108.
Our entire book inventory is donated, featuring both gently used and new books. If you have books to donate and wish to ensure they are suitable for our collection, please get in touch with us.
Together, let's continue to build a literate and connected community, one book at a time. Thank you for your support and involvement in The Free Book Project.
