"This has been one of the worst experiences that I — and the majority of Mason Sims “customers” in my development — have had while attempting to add outdoor decor to our homes. The homes in my development are all brand new, so quite a few of us have added decks, pools or patios. With Covid being a major issue last year, the number of companies in the area that were willing to take on constructing projects dwindled. That’s when Mason’s name began being tossed around, and, sadly, quite a few of us invested in him... I tend to do my research, so I made sure that I’d asked plenty of those that had work done by Mason what they thought about him and their new patios. A number of people mentioned that he only showed up to collect the initial and final payments and never showed interest in the work being done, and others mentioned that first seem to care much about the appointments that he agreed to — he’d either be pretty late or simply not show up. Projects were started much later than people initially agreed to and there were always excuses, but the final results SEEMED to be pretty good. I met with him and made sure to walk him through exactly what I wanted. Knowing what others had said about Mason, I had to make sure to initiate communication since he certainly didn’t. We drew up a plan, I paid the down payment, he sent his men to do the work, and the next time he came was to collect the final payment. Not once did he stop by to see how the project was progressing, so I should’ve known that he didn’t care much then. Either way, the patio ended up looking okay. Fast forward about 10-11 months.... the patio looks so worn out that I’ve had visitors ask who did it and when...simply so that they wouldn’t use the same person. Initially I’d thought that it was only me, but there’s actually a group chat in the development that’s discussing how ALL OF OUR PATIOS have faded and look worn down. The issue is, NO ONE could get in touch with Mason. We’d call his phone and he wouldn’t answer...texts from customers who he’d collected his checks from clearly don’t matter to him either. I assume that he accidentally picked up the phone a couple of weeks ago, and I took advantage of the opportunity to let him know about the fading on ALL of our patios. He immediately shrugged it off and blamed the company that provided him with the staining materials, but took no ownership himself. He agreed to meet to take a look at it one weekend, and of course he never showed up. I contacted him and — as expected — there was an excuse that he had ready to go. I said that we could reschedule for the next weekend and sure enough, he had another personal issue that seemed to prevent him from following up with me... until he accidentally sent me a text mentioning that he was bringing alcohol to an event. Yea...clearly you’re having “difficulties”.... At the end of the day, it’s sad that we have to go through all of this simply because the man couldn’t care less about his customers after he’s collected his cash. However, it may have worked on others, but that won’t work here. A number of his other customers in the area are collecting evidence of poor quality patios and are discussing the legal route. SAVE. YOUR. MONEY. Pics below for anyone who’d like to view his “awesome” work...the border was initially almost a pure black and the interior was a darker brown. It’s clearly lost quite a bit of its color in less than a year, and would probably be white by 2022 if we left it like this."
