"We were really disappointed with the quality of service and trees that were provided to us by Cross River. We "worked" with their landscape architect to develop an environmentally and ecologically friendly master plan for our property. Despite multiple conversations on the area, they produced plans that were mostly not aligned with these discussions. After further discussions, they agreed to revise them, but a year after paying the deposit, they still did not produce any revisions. Given the option to refund part of the $750 planning deposit or work on the revisions, they elected to refund a portion of the deposit. While they were supposedly revising the overall plans, and in an act of good faith, we used them to plant a ~5K portion of the landscaping. The landscaping crew that came out was professional, but it was very apparent that the planting plans for the area were not shared with the crew, and when the landscape architect did communicate with them, he provided the crew with the wrong information. About 50% of the trees planted needed root collar excavation and/or were poor stock (see photo). As a result, within 2 months of planting many of the trees were failing. While initially blaming me for over/under watering the plants, Cross River did come out and excavate the root collars and fertilize the plants. However, the fact that the trees were so obviously poor quality and yet were still planted was disappointing, especially for the premium you pay for their services. In my experience, I was treated as a low priority client, and brushed off as soon as the opportunity arose. I suspect that they will do a fine job if you don't want to have any input in what your yard will look like and want to spend >$50K in one year. If you are are planning on phasing your landscaping over a few years and want to have any input in what your yard looks like, I recommend finding a different company."
