Nestled along the serene and undeveloped shoreline of the Delaware Bay, Gandy's Beach Preserve offers a unique natural escape in Downe, New Jersey. Located at 173 Bayview Road, our park is a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife alike. The preserve is renowned for its stunning tidal marshes and shoreline, which serve as a critical natural buffer, protecting the local community from storm impacts.

Gandy's Beach Preserve is a vibrant ecosystem, providing a vital habitat for a diverse array of fish, migratory birds, horseshoe crabs, and other wildlife. Unfortunately, the area has faced significant erosion, with the shoreline receding nearly 500 feet since 1930. In response, The Nature Conservancy, in collaboration with The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Rutgers University, and other partners, has implemented innovative strategies to enhance the resilience of tidal marshes, beaches, and oyster habitats against climate change and rising sea levels. These efforts include installing oyster reef breakwaters, coir logs, and native vegetation along the shoreline and Nantuxent Creek.

For those who can't get enough of nature, Gandy's Beach Preserve is just one of nearly 1,500 preserves owned by The Nature Conservancy across the United States, protecting over 2.5 million acres of land.
