"I have nothing nice to say about this funeral home. The funeral director needs to take a class on how to act toward grieving spouses. My husband died recently and after my step-children hid the fact he was on life support for 2 weeks in another state they went to Burns for cremation and viewing. The day before i stopped to request a copy of the death certificate and was told the director was not in but took my information for him to call me back, which he did not. At the end of the viewing i discreetly went up to the director, informing him i was the wife and needed a copy of the certificate. He ignorantly told me i had to ask the children. I asked why i needed to ask them when i was asking him. At this point he should have taken me to an office to talk to me but instead said "you are the ex-wife so go to pa.gov and order your own. We had this happen before and it caused problems". I left the funeral home because i did not want to cause a scene but i had wanted to say, "i have proof that i am his wife, does someone else have proof i am not" and also, i would imagine the other time this happened at Burns the "problems" was a woman claimed she was the wife and they found out later she was not. Well imagine what kind of problems you are going to have now for not talking to me, because i am his wife and i believe that this info goes on the certificate, which if they filed him as divorced, they have now filed a fraudelent death record which i intend to pursue with my lawyer!! I have been married to this man for 18 years and this "professional" funeral director was not only disrespectful but who also believed a bunch of liars who tried to hide the whole devastating affair from me. My brother-in-law actually called me the night before to tell me i was not welcome to come. I know now that he said this because he knew i would find out about their lies. The funeral director was most helpful to the people who lied. I went to pa.gov and paid $150 and a week later i got sent a notification that says no record in PA was found, they only issued me a partial refund, charging me $35 for "no record". It was only after calling the funeral home and talking to Shannon that i was told he died in New Jersey. Most unprofessional business i ever encountered and i am now waiting for shannon to get back to me on how i obtain this fraudent certificate. DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME unless you like being disrespected while you are grieving. I am sure they will be hearing from me again!! Denise McErlane - the "wife" wife, not the "ex" wife!!"
"From the initial phone call, through the entire process and service for our family member, every member of the staff was more than helpful and went above and beyond to make our funeral services flow with Ease. So grateful that we chose Burns family for our loved ones funeral!"
