"The ferry for Fort Delaware is in Delaware City. You park on a city street. You have to walk across the park. You need to wear close toe shoes. You ride the ferry than the tram to the fort. Bathroom is right outside the fort. They have a small snack bar inside. There are several programs and events at the fort. The ground floor is handicapped accessible. Service dogs are welcome. You can walk the Prison Camp trail to see the migration birds. Bring the binoculars, water bottle, and camera! Note: They are in the process of restoring the fort!"
"It's an awesome piece of American history!!! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and who doesn't love ferry rides across the river!?!?"
"Great Spot for Picnic, walk around etc!!"
"Family and I went here while camping near by, definitely a cool look into history. Take a short ferry ride to the island. Employees role play in costume/character they really seem to enjoy it. You're free to roam, not a guided tour which I like. Can see everything in about 1.5 hour once inside; time period store, blacksmith, mess hall, artillery etc. Picture is a view from top of fortress didn't really get good pics inside. Wouldn't go again , but if you're in the area I would check it out."
"Great day for a historical visit. From the dock in Delaware City and back. All the folks were wonderful. Very helpful and instructive. The demonstrations as always were the highlights. Once again a fabulous job from the boat crew,to the guides to the reenactors and shop clerks."
