The Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) is proud to be the largest fire department in Pennsylvania, renowned for having one of the busiest EMS divisions in the nation. With 63 stations strategically placed across the city, our engines, ladders, and ambulances are always ready to respond swiftly to any call for help. We also have specialized divisions for fire investigation, hazardous materials management, and protection of the Philadelphia International Airport.

Under the leadership of Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson, a seasoned professional with over 35 years of service in the PFD, we strive for excellence in all aspects of our operations. Commissioner Thompson, a native Philadelphian, has dedicated his career to protecting the city, following in the footsteps of his father, a retired firefighter.
