About the Business
Welcome to Abbott Marshlands - Roebling Park: Spring Lake
Nestled in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, Abbott Marshlands - Roebling Park: Spring Lake offers a serene escape into nature at 325 Sewell Avenue. Spanning over 3,000 acres of diverse habitats, this natural wonder is a vital part of Lenapehoking, the traditional homeland of the Lenape people. We honor the Lenape's enduring heritage and their deep connection to this land.
Discover a rich tapestry of freshwater tidal and non-tidal marshes, swamps, ponds, and woodlands teeming with diverse plant and animal life. Whether you're an avid hiker, a biking enthusiast, or seeking a quiet spot for reflection, the marshlands provide an ideal setting for nature study, recreation, and peaceful moments. Picnic tables are available throughout the park, perfect for a family outing or a leisurely lunch in nature's embrace.
The Abbott Marshlands are also home to the Abbott Farm National Historical Landmark, a site of immense archaeological significance. In the late 19th century, Charles Conrad Abbott's explorations and writings brought global attention to the marshlands, highlighting the area's historical importance.
We are proud to host the Trenton Community A-Team exhibit, Nature’s Echoes, opening on September 8th, celebrating the beauty and inspiration of the marshlands through art. Additionally, thanks to the generous support of Mary Leck, Charlie Leck’s legacy of conservation and education continues to thrive in the marsh.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that everyone is welcome at the Abbott Marshlands. We reject all forms of discrimination and strive to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all visitors, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.
Join us in exploring the Abbott Marshlands, where nature's wonders await and community thrives. For more information about upcoming events like the Nature’s Echoes Art Exhibit and the Charlie Leck Fund, visit our website. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful sanctuary.

"This is an excellent swamp. And I don't say that lightly, I'm quite the swamp snob. This swamp has it all, water, dirt, the resulting "mud", you name it. Whether you come to slap the mud with your hand so it makes that "thwack!" sound or simply for an impromptu body disposal, you won't be disappointed."
"Great park for winter bird watching. Lots of duck species and winter birds. Don't forget the beavers!"
"Awesome place..."
"I love Roebling Park as a whole, but this part of it can be sketchy depending on what kind of people are there. I’ve had what seemed like a person try to steal my phone, they tried to have me give them my phone to make a phone call and made sure nobody else was around. They said, “my phone died and I need to call me mom.” I said, “you should hurry home to her and don’t waste any time.” And then while I was walking on one of the makeshift bridges there was someone who was angrily talking saying, “are you here to help me or hinder me because you being here is hindering me.” so I then decided to just turn around."
"Nice area to hike and fish and picnic with family and friends"
