About the Business
Welcome to the Portland Food Pantry, located at 111 State Street, Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania. As the largest food pantry in our region, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Our dedicated team of 50 volunteers works tirelessly to collect, stock, sort, and distribute food items to over 426 families, serving more than 1,060 individuals in our community.
Founded in 1994 by Sherma LaBarre Godshalk, our pantry has a rich history of compassion and community service. Sherma's legacy continues under the care of our dedicated volunteers, who honor her memory by ensuring that no family goes hungry. With the help of generous donations from companies, organizations, churches, and local farmers, we provide essential food assistance to qualifying clients every Monday morning from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.
Our pantry is located at the Portland Social Hall, and families are welcome to receive food every two weeks upon registration and proof of residency. We are proud to announce the completion of our Challenge Grant, which enabled us to purchase a new truck, enhancing our ability to serve the community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this vital addition.
Together, we can make a difference. Your donations are crucial in relieving hunger and sustaining our efforts to support those in need. Thank you for being a part of our mission to foster a healthier and more caring community. For more information, please contact us at 570-897-5847. Let's work hand in hand to create a brighter future for everyone.
