"Every memorial service my family has ever attended at James O'Donnell Funeral Home has always been so beautiful and professional. Their team always works hard to create a safe and comfortable place for families to grieve. They have always done their absolute best to help families celebrate the lives of their loved ones in a special way, and they make each service very unique and personal. Our family recently worked with James O'Donnell personally for the first time when my husband's father passed away. They had many options to choose from when it came to services and costs, but they made it very easy for us to make those choices. We didn't feel overwhelmed at all while meeting with them (we met with Don), and our family had a lot of peace amd confidence about every decision we made together. We chose a very affordable option because thats what our loved one would have wanted, but no one would have ever noticed that it costed less because James O'Donnell Funeral Home made everything look so beautiful. It really did feel like a celebration of life, and we loved everything about his memorial service. They did their absolute best to honor our loved one and to care for our grieving family, and we couldnt be more thankful. This is exactly what we have always noticed when attending services there. They always go above and beyond to love families and the community well. The team at James O'Donnell Funeral home is definitely the best around. It is a true gift to have them serving our community. They have definitely blessed our family over the years. We will always be thankful for how they served us in this time, especially. Thank you, Don. Thank you, Jimmy. And thank you to the entire team serving at James O'Donnell Funeral Home. We love you all. ❤️"
"Truly terrible place. They took our loved one so quickly but didn't tell us. During our first consultation with them, James JR himself quite literally pretended to our faces that they didn't have our loved one the whole time, even saying they still needed to retrieve them. He quoted us outrageous pricing for the most basic of service that wouldn't even be a funeral or anything. Just cremation. Thousands of dollars. He would shave off a few hundred if we would pay right then or incur a higher rate with a payment plan. The sickening thing is his business, successful only on the coattails of his father's reputation, is situated in an infamously impoverished part of town yet charge like they think they're from Boulder. He does not know his service area like he should. He did not like me, a woman, knowing to ask questions. His expressions are often hard for him to conceal. I am a business woman, you can't pull one on me and you sure won't on my family. I discuss contracts every day, you clearly didn't see me coming. The insincere politeness and thinly veiled irritation by this facade of a director was humorous. A few tips, if you will, James. First and foremost, you should always be keenly aware when one of your staff argues with your clientele and prospective leads. It's even worse when it's a grieving family they want to argue with. Two, re-evaluate your true service population. The houses falling down around your business is a serious indicator that you are far too overpriced. Three, learn how to play poker. Four, understand that you can't hide everything, live in a one-party consent state, and should assume everything in communications is being recorded by one or more participants. Five, don't lie about having a deceased loved one. Six, respect when a family does not wish to utilize your services and do not bad mouth your competitors. Seven, be gracefully cooperative with the legally required handover of a deceased loved one to a competitor. The choice is up to the family, not you, and you are far from a "concerned advocate"; you are simply an opportunistic, vested interest. Eight, do not insult your clientele and leads by insinuating they do not know how to research. Instead, ask first but do not immediately aim to sow doubt simply to retain business. That works in highly competitive home service industries, but people almost always find out when it comes to their loved ones."
"I found Jimmy O'Donnell and his Staff to be understanding, supportive, kind and compassionate beyond measure. Mr. O'Donnell went over and above in giving assistance to me during the time of my mother's passing. Thank you again for everything, Mardra Thomas"
"Can’t say enough good about this place. Jimmy and the whole staff were excellent to work with. They went above and beyond what we expected from a funeral home. They truly gave us a celebration of mom’s life. We couldn’t have ask for anything more. Thank you Jame’s O’Donnell funeral home."
"I was absolutely blown away by the amazing experience provided by O’Donnell’s. My grandfather’s celebration of life was like no funeral I have ever been to. The pictures and displays of his life events placed throughout the church were SO good and brought so much peace to our family. Thank you so much for caring and doing your job so well. Lyle Campbell would have been very pleased."
