"This was the first time that my Mother, Sister & I had to plan services. When I received the news of my youngest Sister's passing, I immediately began reaching out to local funeral care providers. Timothy (Austin Layne-Funeral Director) was the first & only to respond with pricing list and availability for follow up questions. This made it easier to review everything while we traveled back to St. Louis to. prepare to lay my sister to rest. Timothy, Mrs. Gail (apologies if I spelled incorrectly) & even Austin Layne himself ensured that things were seamless. My family & I agree that everyone went above & beyond. We extend our sincerest gratitude. Continued blessings to you all."
"Austin A. Layne Mortuary truly provided exceptional service to my best friend. She looked so at peace and beautiful. The staff was very professional. I forgot the funeral director's name, but she did a wonderful job with this celebration of my best friend's life. I can't say enough praise for the job they did for her homegoing celebration."
"My family has used Austin Layne for many years. Unfortunately, it is not the same. Mr. Layne was my funeral director and I thought I was in good hands. Unfortunately, this was not the case. With this being my fist funeral I had to personally do, I wasn't sure of many things, and he did not tell me. It took the lady who takes the photos and clothing to ask me about certain things. I never received the death certificates from the coordinator in that position so I went to the county to pick it up myself. After calling to express my frustration, I was lied to saying they couldn't get in contact with me. I pulled my phone records for the month and not one missed call from them. During the burial, the vault had the wrong date for my mother. Instead of an apology, my funeral director said "Oh, that can be fixed," while throwing his hand up. I tried 3 weeks to get a hold of my funeral director to express my frustration and to get proof the vault was fixed and get my death certificates before making my final payment. Nothing. Instead I was told "the vault company there said he fixed it, and I seen him go to the truck," said my funeral director who then told me to call the vault company. After calling Wilbert vault company I was told that was the date Mr. Layne gave them, and she mentioned she would ask the person who worked that day if it was fixed and if he had taken a picture, then told me to call back in a hour. After calling back, of course they said they fixed it, but no proof. Then proceeded to again play the blame game. Aside from not receiving the death certificates, the vault being wrong, the media team did not place her photo online after receiving it, and they did not follow the instructions I gave them for the song selections during the service. Both companies have made it difficult to grieve. I will not be using either anymore."
"I have entrusted Austin Layne Mortuary to care for the preparations for my father and mother. My father's funeral was almost 20 years ago and at that time I would have given 5 stars. Mr. Layne worked with us personally and everything was perfect. My mother's funeral was 3 years ago and there were a few hiccups, but nothing that they did not resolve. Their preparation of both bodies was so good. It helps to bring pictures of how your loved ones looked while alive to help the morticians know what they should look like."
"My experience with Austin A Layne Mortuary was NOT most pleasant. I recently used their services for my brother's funeral. Mr.Layne in particular was very indiscretion. With the exception of Answering Service, most of staff was just plain cold and indifferent. Although, I did get $2,500 reduced from cost of funeral. I felt customer service skills were sorely lacking. Even day of funeral the indifference continued. Staff vertically disappeared offered no assistance exception end of service. I am not only person who noticed. Family members and friends later told me they felt same way. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone in future."
