"He operated on my lower curve but because my upper curve was not fixated it started to desintegrate causing me to live in a wheelchair. I intent on flying in to see him. Life happened and I had to give up driving and walking"
"I have been seeing Dr. Bridwell for 30 years and have been very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. It was a very complex 10 hour surgery removing luque rods that a different surgeon did 8 years prior. Dr. Bridwell had to remove the old luque rods and install longer rods anterior and posterior along with adding a titanium cage in a charcot joint. That surgery was nearly 30 years ago and has held up. So thankful to have found Dr. Bridwell. No other surgeon in the USA even wanted to attempt my spine repair. They all said it wouldn't be a success and never hold. Well after 30 years its still holding. Even if it fails now I would still say it was a success. He has always had great staff working along side him. Nurse at my visit yesterday was very pleasant. I would refer my mother to Dr. Bridwell."
"Dr. Bridwell did my spinal fusion and also my halo traction when I was 16 for severe scoliosis. He wasn’t the nicest doctor, he was very dry. At the age of 15, being told you have to have spinal fusion is extremely scary and a little overwhelming and it would have been nice knowing things prior to having it. The other spinal surgeons at Shriners would talk to their patients prior and ask them if they had any questions and see how they were feeling. Dr. Bridwell did not. The only time he was concerned was when his nurses gave me an incorrect PIC line. He did do my fusion perfectly, but the pain never went away. I had check up appointments after having the surgery and I would tell him the pain wasn’t going away and he didn’t believe me. He couldn’t bare to understand that even though the fusion went perfectly and everything was in tact, I was still having pain. I am 25 years old now and I am still suffering from my spinal fusion. It has caused my spine above and below to deteriorate and I also have arthritis in my neck and spine. I am not blaming Dr. Bridwell, I just believe that patients deserve better than to be treated this way."
"I had a scoliosis revision surgery 20 years ago with Dr. Bridwell. He is a fantastic surgeon. I wait every time I go, just like I do at every doctor who is thorough and reliable. If you want the best, you don't complain about the wait. Everyone seems to want drive-thru results. That's not how life works. You won't find a better surgeon. I am 58 years old now, with having scoliosis rods in my back since the age of 22. My revision surgery was at the age of 36. I still work full time and have very little achiness or pain. My daily life is not with a disability and that's a blessing due to having such an amazing doctor. Dr. Bridwell was great during my surgical time at Barnes and at every follow-up appointment I ever have gone to since. I will also say that his nurse has always been there for me to answer all of my questions along the way. She has also been a blessing in my life. I am thankful for everyone there."
"My words cannot express how grateful I am to Dr. Bridwell for changing my life!!!! I had very severe scoliosis with curvature more than 80 degrees, constant pain, and spondylosis. Being only 40.... I was headed for wheelchair by the age of 50. After the surgery my curve was corrected by 50%, which changed my life and completely took my pain away! Dr. Bridwell is a doctor from God, and I will be forever grateful to him!!!"
