Reviews of Unison Behavioral Health
"I used to love Unison. That was until they threw myself and a few others to the wolves. I was in Unisons " Supportive Living" program. It gives the post inpatient a temporary place to live ( one is considered homeless while in this program; so as to ensure the people in this transitional housing program get put at front of waitlist while Unison aids people in finding affordable housing. I though are disabled. In my time here; up until April 2024 there were no enforced parameters as to how long a person could stay here. The program; I was recently told was going to adhere to and enforce an 18 month stay. Well It wasn't my fault that I and handful of others had been here exceeding 18 months. If Unison wishes to enforce this fine, however this shouldn't be applicable to those already here before the 18month parameter as of March 2024; is henceforth to be enforced. Myself and a few others were given 30day notice to vacate. I had no place to go.; yet to tell a mentally ill person of whom is disabled to go to a shelter is setting said person up to fail. To be told if patient had no place to go; shelter arrangements could be made. Unprofessional is a kind word for this.In retrospect I could've done that to begin with. Yet that's an extremely unstable- high stress environment. Nobody EVER TOLD ME to look for housing myself. Im not the direct line into Housing Authority that we are considered homeless. There have been several staff changes, unavailable services, Unison decided this place I reside now was unfit for their needs. I initialed a document in January to be prepared to move to new facility around March 1st. This date came and went. I was giving a 30 day notice. With no place to go and being physically being unable to pack my stuff it left me with no recourse but to " rent" a room onsire here $800 a month! I received my disability 2days before I was to be out the door. The stress that this has caused me, the money...my 1st 9 months here were a family. The on-site manager did nothing per the directives of his job. The next Manager- while good at cleaning up the criminal element of this neighborhood; played favorites. For instance giving a woman low income housing even though she had only been here 3 months. A lady that had been here 5years still awaited.housing. Why have a person enter this program if they are going to be put on street anyway. In my tenure people having been here less time retained housing via UNISONS help. Why?I'm going to seek counsel. Again others around here pay rent based on income. Or none at all. Im in a place while my case mgr and I look for housing; that's teeming with roaches. A person is only paying $275 in rent here. He has been in supportive living 3yrs now?? What happened to 18 months for everybody? I need my money refunded down to amount is have to pay out of my disability."
"Unison is a great place to work for, and a healing place to go to as a patient. I have experience with being an employee and a patient with Unison, and I have no regrets. I started off as a MH patient in 2021 and got hired on the DD side of Unison as a 1:1 support staff, and moved up to Supported Employment Specialist in under a year. I take pride in helping clients find and maintain employment and I love being a helpful source to those in need. Unison is what you make it out to be. If you get Unison Services and need help finding a job let your licensed provider know so they can fill out a referral form."
"I had been seeing them after the whole process of signing up which took me 3 days to get a walk in I had discovered some very disturbing facts about some of my recent history w people and went in and described in detail my own near murder and what I had escaped and survived when I reached the end of literal detailed facts I ended it with I wish I could have a legal follow through for justice but I know I can't pay them anything like that nor am I the type of person to payback in kind they then immediately stated that they were going to place me inpatient mind you at the time I was also physically sick due to the attempt on my life I had been poisoned for a long time the hospital had already confirmed why I was sick they then had police who use unnecessary force to remove me and place me to the hospital where they too saw me and left me alone in the hallway for hours refusing to speak to me when I spoke to them the next day I even requested a supervisor which was refused requested to speak again to my therapist which I was transfered and hung up on so on my 3rd time calling I told them I no longer needed their services they then demanded I come in to do exist paperwork I was so missed at that point I told them where to stuff it a week later for 4 days straight they called me 2xs a day trying to either speak to me directly over the phone or set up appointments and only after the 4th days 2nd call I finally made the statement that I was looking to take them to court which they got sparky attituded about still making a comment about well I should have done what the doctor asked and I would be better now and hung up in my face at any further retort only then did they leave me alone. I still have yet to been able to find therapy in my area and many other doctors try to direct me here don't take a doc referral don't take yourself to this place every staff member there shouldn't even be practicing or should go back to school they have no empathy the system they have just to start sessions is stupid and honestly they don't even give full session of 30 minutes even on a normal appointment they don't care and you never even actually see anyone in person it's all telecom which you could do from your own home rather then waste travel just to sit in front of a screen they are impersonal have no empathy no compassion we are literally just a mumber for income for them"
"More like an asylum for women. Some of the house parents need an attitude check. There's no reason to talk down to these women who are there to change their lives. It's also unprofessional and a violation of HIPAA to share personal information on these women."
"It's just a lot for patients that go there. Not able to get a full understanding of wants going on if you're their care person taking them in. Walk-ins are really difficult for family members if the person has no transportation once your going to miss an appt but to have you come in at 6:45 am and wait to see if they can fit you end is absolutely ridiculous. I feel their classes could be better in helping too much paperwork, not enough counseling, all like a revolving door, but it's all we have"
