"We enjoyed the trails!"
"This place is a gorgeous natural area. If you've got mobility problems I don't really recommend it parts of it are extremely steep and/or slick. There's a waterfall in some of the existing pictures and FYI, that only runs after rain or when there's been a lot of water coming down or out of the ground. If it's been dry for a little while, you won't see it. I think I saw my first jack-o'-lantern mushroom here, such a strange looking thing I hear they glow in the dark and are deadly toxic. There's lots of huge snails here, beautiful moss and some vegetation that I've never seen anywhere else. I am from Southwest Missouri though. You love raw, unspoiled wilderness and natural beauty, you'll love this place. I really wish it wasn't 4.5 hours away from home, I would be there a lot more. Here's another FYI: if you follow Google maps directions, it'll bring you up in an area that looks like it's somebody's private residence. It is, there's a caretaker that lives there and there's also a classroom for conservation personnel. Don't let it fool you though it is open to the public and honestly they want you guys to come out and check it out. I ran into somebody up there and I asked them if it was a private residence that's how I know. The same fella also told me that they only get about 1 to 2 visitors a week so if you're looking to get away from people, this is the place to do it I can't recommend it enough but make sure you're sure footed lol.
