"The people at Home Depot were amazing."
"I rented a small tractor with a loader bucket and backhoe. The rental staff were friendly and efficient. I had some experience with a loader tractor, but not the backhoe. Staff answered my questions, but some technical information was not given (such as the presence of locking pins in the backhoe mechanisms (likely for transport purposes). Instructions were mainly that it's "easier to play with it and learn it's operation that way". In most respects that was true if you have at least a little knowledge, but you must realize that there is a great deal of responsibility in operating a piece of complex machinery that weighs thousands of pounds, and that has powerful hydraulics that could quickly pin or crush you or a bystander. Ideally I would recommend that home depot personnel give at least an introduction to the backhoe controls and safety, and that anyone who has zero experience operating heavy machinery to not do it without someone present that can guide you in safety/operation fundamentals. Home depot rules also require you to connect the trailer containing the equipment to your tow vehicle yourself (they can give verbal directions), be able to back the trailer up for hookup and return, etc. Most likely this is for liability purposes. Other than that, the rental process was quick and easy, and the machine and trailer were in fantastic condition. I took photos of the tie down chain positions before I unloaded it, and I found those useful when it came time to load the machine when I was done with it."
"Rented a carpet cleaner."
"Highly disappointed. The associate couldn't figure out how to order my flooring. After 20 minutes she just gave me the keyboard and had my order it myself.(could have done that from home and avoided the hassle). She assured me it would be in after 5 days, after all the display case said ships in 5 days. I told her I didn't want to order it if it wouldn't be here in time for Thanksgiving. I placed my order on the 12th. with her guarantee it would be in by next weekend. Well... Next weekend rolls around after half an hour on hold being transfered to multiple people I finally get told the associate was new and had informed me incorrectly. But the manager Terrence? Assured me it would be in between the 21st and 25th. I asked him what was going to happen if my contractor backed out of the job because I had to push back the start date again. It isnt really fair that I lose out on a deposit because they informed me incorrectly. He said if that were to happen however unlikely,to bring my contract in and they would make sure something was worked out.so the 28th comes and there is still no flooring and the contractor says I breached my contract and will lose my deposit because they have other jobs scheduled. I called home depot to cancel my order. At this point i just want to take my business elsewhere. After I've already remodeled three rental units with only there products and built a 2000$ deck from them last summer. They tell me they can't cancel my order because i order it online on my own! NO I did not YOUR associate did after she couldn't figure out how to order it on her own. Now that it's the 30th I get an email saying my order is in and I can pick it up. You people are in for a big surprise if you think I will continue my business here. I will be going to Lowe's or Menards from now on."
